Transportation

Transportation is crucial in guaranteeing that seniors have access to essential services such as medical care and grocery shopping. The availability of adequate transportation enables older persons to live independently in their communities and helps to prevent isolation as well as the possible need for long-term care placement.

Many older adults who do not drive must rely on family and friends for much of their transportation. For others, it is necessary to find community resources to provide transportation, as this vital support service may be their only connection to the outside world. The CASS Transportation Program makes it possible for seniors to be out in the community and engaged in the activities of daily living.

Transportation services vary in communities depending upon where the senior lives. Transportation that may be available includes individual door-to-door service, such as medical transportation; fixed route with scheduled services, such as grocery store trips; and group transportation to events.

CASS provides transportation services for seniors with limited mobility. Our vehicles are equipped with lifts and wheelchair slots and our drivers are trained to meet the needs of their older adult passengers. CASS drivers are professional, trained in passenger assistance techniques, have undergone background checks, and are adept at driving a passenger vehicle.
