CASS delivers on its promise.

The entire staff at CASS takes pride in delivering on our promise to deliver basic, but essential, services to low-income and inner-city seniors throughout the Cincinnati area.

MISSION : To promote the independence and preserve the dignity of older adults.

VISION:

  • To demonstrate ownership, respect and accountability at all levels.
  • To be the community leader in advocating for the needs of older, at-risk adults.
  • To constantly evolve and improve our services through continuous review.
  • To excel in fiscal management and efficiency of operations.
  • Advocating for the needs of older adults.

HISTORY: CASS was established in 1967 through the vision of Lucile Costello. Mrs. Costello believed that with the right type of support, the elderly could remain independent and stay in their homes. Mrs. Costello began with $1,000 in seed money from the YWCA and Community Chest. She founded CASS working out of a converted closet at the YWCA. CASS is still executing Mrs. Costello’s vision with clarity and consistency. CASS continually refines the range of services to meet critical needs that foster independence in those seniors who might otherwise not know where to turn.

The CASS board room has been named for founder Lucile Costello, and our annual Costello Golf Outing fundraiser also memorializes her work. Mrs. Costello passed away in 2003, having devoted her life to the CASS mission.

FUNDING: As a non-profit agency committed to meeting the needs of Cincinnati's ’ most at-risk elderly CASS relies on funding from a variety of sources including the following:

  • Hamilton County Elderly Services Tax Levy
  • Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio
  • City of Cincinnati Department of Community Development and Planning
  • Cincinnati Health Department
  • Ohio Department on Aging
  • The United Way of Greater Cincinnati
