The History of CASS
It was through the vision of our founder, Lucile Costello that CASS was established in 1967. Mrs. Costello believed that with the right support, the elderly could remain independent and stay in their homes. Mrs. Costello began with $1,000 in seed money from the YWCA and Community Chest. In fact, she worked out of a converted closet at the YWCA for the first few years. CASS is still delivering on Mrs. Costello's vision with clarity and consistency. The leadership continually refines the range of services offered by CASS to serve older adults and meet critical needs that foster independence in those people who might otherwise be overlooked.

Mrs. Costello passed away in 2003, having devoted her life to the CASS mission. The CASS leadership has named the following in her honor:

-- The Lucile Costello Board Room
-- The Costello Golf Outing (fundraiser)
